Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behaviour in a given context. There are several subfields in psychology. Clinical psychologists assess, diagnose, treat, and aim to prevent mental, emotional, and behavioural disorders. They integrate the science of psychology and the treatment of complex human problems with the intention of promoting change. They use a variety of strategies and techniques to maintain and enhance people's physical, intellectual, emotional, social and interpersonal functioning.

Psychologists (doctoral-level practitioners) are regulated mental health practitioners in good standing with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO).

I am a bilingual Ottawa-based Clinical Psychologist treating adult individuals at Nyx Psychology. I have worked for several years with patients in a psychiatric population, as well as with serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces at Canadian Forces Health Services Center (Ottawa). Prior to opening my own practice in 2025, I worked in private practice for several years in another clinic in Ottawa. I am experienced in offering both clinical assessments and psychotherapy.

Assessments involve a mix of tests and clinical interviews. They can be helpful in many different circumstances: to obtain a diagnosis or a second opinion on a diagnosis; to help select the best treatment for your difficulties; to better understand who you are as a person, etc. (Please note that I do NOT conduct assessments for the following matters: custody evaluations; autism; ADHD.)

Psychotherapy is a treatment for the mind (often called ‘therapy’). Your health care practitioner (GP, NP, etc.) may have recommended it to you, or you may have heard about it from friends who have had positive experiences with therapy. Sometimes people come to therapy after having tried many other strategies to feel better, without lasting success. You do not need a diagnostic of a mental health disorder to seek psychotherapy; the only requirement is that you have something you are uncomfortable with in yourself or your life and want to work on changing it for the better.

You may have heard that there are different “approaches” in psychotherapy. This means that therapists use different tools and techniques to work with you to improve your general well-being. The main approach I use is centered on emotions and relationships; sometimes that is called the psychodynamic approach, or attachment-based therapy. Another way to explain it would be to say that I help clients understand who they are, why they act the way they do, and what would make their life more satisfying and more meaningful.

I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (BA) from McGill University in 2006 and a doctoral degree (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from Université du Québec en Outaouais in 2014. I am a member in good standing of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO #6073) and of Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ #12382-14). I am also registered as a provider with Blue Cross and available to offer services to serving members of the RCMP as well as Veterans from the Canadian Armed Forces.
